President Goodluck Jonathan Signs The Bill of Same Sex Marriage Prohibition Into Law

Inspite of the protests from some foreign countries the President has taken the bold step to sign into law the bill of same sex marriage prohibition in Nigeria.

Some foreign embassies were shocked by the development leading to curious inquires from the Federal Government, despite these the Federal government says no going back.

The signed bill says gays, lesbians will receive a 14 year jail term if they are caught.
Also, anyone who operates or participates in gay clubs, socities and organisations directly or indirectly when will receive a 10-year jail term. Those administer witnesses, abet or aid in solemnization of same sex marriage are going to earn a 10-years jail term.

The Senate previously passed the Bill in November 2011, Lawmakers in Nigeria's House of representatives affirmed the decision by the Senate on May 29, 2013.

The President assented to the Act last week, on January 7, 2014, but the details of the action has just leaked the web.
