Cpl. Paul Anigbo, on the side of the prosecution, told the court that the matter was reported at the Lugbe Police Station by one Faith Njoku of Kapuwa Village, Lugbe, Abuja on September 2.
The prosecutor told the court that Nancy Ndukwe visited her friend
Njoku on the above-mentioned date and stole her IPad, IPhone and jewellery, all valued at N190,000.
Cpl. Anigbo gave the value of each of the items as reported by the complainant: IPad – N100,000; IPhone – N50,000 and jewellery – N40,000.
The prosecutor informed that the police discovered all the stolen items in the convict’s possession.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge but begged the court for mercy.
“I stole the items due to frustration. I have a one-year-old son to cater for. I am sorry and I promisenot to do such again,” Nancy Ndukwe said.
Mr. Celestine Odo, the Magistrate, sentenced the convict for two months imprisonment or an option of N6,000 fine.
